Abstruse Goose Is Awesome
The other day, I wrote up a short (but filled with immense love) write-up on the Abstruse Goose webcomic on my podcast’s website. It’s an amazing comic if you’re nerd like me and have serious relationship dysfunctions and love maths and physics jokes.
I emailed the artist and had a short correspondence with him. What happens when the comic updated today? I see a little thank...
Ch-ch-changes!
I’m pretty darn proud of the work we’ve put into the podcast. I think that we’ve made leaps and bounds in a matter of weeks. Our rapport is tighter and we’ve developed our own little inside jokes. The podcast did well to prune away with some of the dead weight. It’s made the three of us more relaxed and has allowed us to move forward with making the podcast really...

Apparently Being Gay Can Get You Expelled
Two (now college-aged) high school girls were expelled from a California Lutheran High School in 2005 for being gay. As the facts have come out, it’s questionable whether Jane Doe and Mary Roe were or are homosexual.
Perhaps it’s because I went to a fairly open-minded Catholic school that I don’t see why a religious school would expel students for life choices that don’t...
GIAH Got a Shout Out on This Just Out
haha. That’s awesome. Way to go GIAH!
The fact that I’m tumbling about Girlfriend is a Homo getting a shout out on a video podcast is sad. I need a life…
Did Tumblr Crushes go away?
I was actually going to post mine today.
Phop
purplediculous:
kevinnuut:
I’m tired of wasting time saying ‘photoshop’ or ‘photoshopped’, so I am inventing a one syllable slang for it, phop. It can be used as an adjective or a noun. For example, ‘That’s a great phop on that photo to make your face look like a cat.’ or ‘I think I’m going to phop some web design tonight.’ Please see Exhibit A for an example of a Phop from El Muy Awesome....
Anatomy of a Murder at the Redford Theatre
Last night, I went to The Redford Theatre in the Old Redford section of Detroit to see Anatomy of a Murder. The Redford Theatre is a beautiful theatre that was built in 1928. Since then it’d fallen into disrepair and the Motor City Theatre Organ Society bought it and has renovated it to a bit of it’s old self.
The Redford Theatre has one screen and still has a marquee outside...
I Think I Might Miss You Enough to Say So
I think I already did. I think I might miss you enough to say so. Well there you go, I just did it again.
This Creperie Is Better Than You
Good Girls go to Paris Crepes
I am so stoked that Good Girls Go To Paris Crepes is getting a new location at the Park Shelton! They better hurry up and renovate the space so I can get fat on Allison, Sarah and Rose crepes!!!!
FYI: Allison = Hummus, hot sauce, spinach & herb de provence (my fave), Sarah = mushroom, goat’s milk cheese, spinach & red pepper, Rose = basil,...
2009 Called...
They said you’re not getting laid.
Le sigh.
I am so tired of being single. Someone sweep me off my feet. I’ll be looking out for you.
ETA: I don’t even have to be swept off my feet. In fact, all I need is for someone to show the slightest inkling of interest because I haven’t felt that in well over a year.
The conceit that Jenny Schecter is a good writer
is just one of the many many reasons The L Word sucks. There is absolutely nothing that is shown of Jenny’s work that makes it sound remotely good.
When Newspapers Are Gone, What Will You Miss?
For newsandbooze:
“What’s left is local news, investigative journalism and intelligent coverage of national news. Perhaps 2% of the cost of a typical paper. I worry about the quality of a democracy when the the state government or the local government can do what it wants without intelligent coverage. I worry about the abuse of power when the only thing a corrupt official needs to...
It Really Irks Me
When I read things like this, “Hush up, Nader
Gore aides were so frustrated with Ralph Nader, whose presence in the race some believe cost Gore the election, that every time he appeared on television election night, a staffer would mute his voice.”
Yea! Damn it people, democracy isn’t about choice or choosing the candidate who will best represent your needs! Democracy is...

Instruction Manual for Life
This is one of the best allegories for life, religion, beliefs, “world views” and society I have ever seen. Kudos to the animators for finding such an interesting way to express their point!

The New Episode of Generation Tech is Out!
The first episode of 2009 is out! It’s a pretty fun one, but unfortunately Podango, our podcast hosting company, went under so we’re scrambling to find a new host. You’ll have to go directly to the website to listen to the latest episode.
I’m also excited because we’ll be getting new artwork for the website soon. We’ll be able to sell some merchandise. Yay!...

First Week
We’re a full week into the new year now. (Yay 2009?) I am pretty ambivalent as to how “awesome” or “dreadful” this year is starting out. Last year, however, was a bad year for me. I choose to remember the great things that happened in 2008, though.
I went to Poland and saw my Babcia and cousins.
I finally turned 21 and had a pretty good birthday celebration...

I Think I'll Participate in Project 365.
I’m not interested in Daily Mugshot. Frankly, I’ve found most of the people I know who are participating are doing so out of vanity rather than an interest in the art of the project. I think with Project 365, it seems like the art is the focus of the project. Regardless of your skill level with photography, you can participate. The photos can be of yourself, others, whatever...

Good Time Max is the story of two genius brothers who grow up and grow apart as one (Matt Bell) becomes a surgeon and the other (James Franco) lives a drug fueled high life. It’s co-written and directed by Franco.
I am really amazed by James Franco. He seems to be stepping up as one of the powerful creative forces in the film industry. I’ve like most of his choices in film and think...

Respectful Insolence: Age of Autism's "Reporter of... →
“In any event, David Kirby has once again demonstrated his mad reporting skillz in a post on that repository of antivaccine pseudoscience and quackery, The Huffington Post, entitled Obama Transition Website: ‘Recovery from autism is neither possible, nor desirable.’
There’s just one problem. No such thing appears on the Obama Transition Team website, Change.gov. The...

“It Came From Detroit is the ultimate fans look at the city’s internationally renowned garage rock scene. Produced over five years, the documentary chronicles the scene before and after the spotlight that came to town as the White Stripes rose to fame.
Starting with the hugely influential band The Gories in the 1980s, the bands of the garage scene are known for two things: an...

The Lost Towns of Russia →
“Photographer Uryevich explains the situation this way: ‘Most abandoned buildings, plants and areas appeared in the Soviet Russia (’70-’80) because they belonged to the “state” (meaning nobody) and afterwards (’90) as a result of the economic crisis.’”
There’s some absolutely amazing photography of some of the abandoned buildings in Russia. I saw some similar...
