Noise vs. Signal
After watching Avatar, most of my comments reflected the racism I had observed in the film. Albeit, my comments were made with humor in mind, the nugget of truth was still there. The action and beautiful visuals of Avatar are fantastic, but the story at its core is lackluster and tinged with the idea that “white” militaristic Western culture can assimilate and “fix the problems” of tribal culture by becoming the tribe’s leader.
