Good Time Max is the story of two genius brothers who grow up and grow apart as one (Matt Bell) becomes a surgeon and the other (James Franco) lives a drug fueled high life.  It’s co-written and directed by Franco.

I am really amazed by James Franco. He seems to be stepping up as one of the powerful creative forces in the film industry.  I’ve like most of his choices in film and think he’s a pretty darn good actor, too.  Good Time Max is a comedy/drama of sorts, but it definitely will bring you down in certain spots.  It’s a fun, but ultimately melancholy film.
